Accredit a course
What CPD Accreditation Means
CPD accreditation confirms that a training activity has been independently reviewed and meets recognised Continuing Professional Development standards. Accredited activities must be structured, relevant and capable of delivering measurable learning.
What You Need Before Applying
Before submitting an application, providers must have the following ready:
- A full course outline or syllabus
- Clearly defined learning outcomes
- The complete training content or lesson plan
- Trainer or presenter information
- Details of the delivery method, online, in-person or blended
- Any assessments, reflection activities or delegate evaluations
- A process for recording attendance
- A method for confirming completion and issuing certificates
Submitting Your Application
Applications are submitted through the online form at the bottom of this page. Providers upload their materials for review. Once received, the submission is assigned to an assessor.
What the Assessment Involves
The assessor reviews the structure and clarity of the programme, the relevance and accuracy of the learning outcomes and the suitability of the content for professional development.
The review also looks at how learning is supported, the level of participant engagement and the robustness of attendance and completion records.
The aim is to confirm that the activity meets the CPD Standards Board’s criteria.
Receiving Accreditation
If the course meets the required standard, it will be approved as an accredited activity. You will then be authorised to issue CPD credits and CPD certificates to delegates who complete the programme. You will also receive permission to use the CPD Standards Board accreditation mark on the accredited course.
Accreditation applies only to the specific version of the course that has been assessed. Any other version would need to be submitted separately.
Each time you issue CPD credits, a unique certificate number is generated. This number can be added to the delegate’s certificate so the credits can be verified.
Maintaining Your Accreditation
Accreditation is granted for one year and must be renewed annually. Renewal confirms that the accredited course continues to meet CPD standards and that the provider maintains suitable processes.
Accreditation applies only as long as the course continues to meet the CPD Standards Board’s requirements and the annual renewal is completed.
Purpose of the Process
The accreditation process exists to give participants confidence that the training they undertake has been independently verified and meets recognised professional standards.
The CPD Standards Board ensures that accredited activities are credible, consistent and valuable for ongoing development.
