Everything you see, hear or read on the site belongs either to the CPD Standards Board or to someone who has licensed material to us. That includes words, images, audio, video, logos and the overall look and feel of the pages. You are welcome to view, print or download a reasonable number of pages for your personal reference. Anything more than that – for example, copying large chunks of text, reproducing our graphics, or using our marks in your own marketing – needs our written permission first. Our liability to you for foreseeable loss or damage arising out of your use of the site shall be limited to the greater of one hundred pounds or the amount you have paid to us for the specific service giving rise to the claim. We do not exclude or limit in any way our liability to you where it would be unlawful to do so. These terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them, are governed by English law. Both you and we agree that the courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction, although if you are a consumer resident in Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in Northern Ireland, and if you are a consumer resident in Scotland you may also bring proceedings in Scotland.

If a court or competent authority finds any part of these terms invalid, the rest shall continue in full force and effect. No waiver by us of any breach or default shall be deemed a waiver of any subsequent breach or default.

Now, a word about how we expect visitors to behave when they use our site. The CPD Standards Board is a professional body and the website reflects that. We ask that you act with courtesy towards us, our staff and other users at all times. We welcome fair comment and constructive criticism, but we do not tolerate abuse, harassment or the promotion of violence. If you choose to take part in any interactive element that we may make available – such as commenting on an article or joining a webinar chat – you are responsible for the content you contribute. Make sure you own it or have permission to share it, and remember that you grant us a non‑exclusive right to display, reproduce, edit and distribute it in connection with the site. If we believe any contribution breaches these standards, we may remove it without notice and, if appropriate, disable your access.

Because trust sits at the heart of professional development, we want you to know exactly how we look after your personal information. When you browse the site, our server records your IP address, the pages you visit and the files you download. We use that data to administer the site, understand what content people find useful and keep everything secure. We also place small text files known as cookies on your device. Some cookies make the pages load properly; others tell us, in aggregated form, how many visitors we have and how they move around the site. If you fill in a form – for example, to enquire about accreditation, to register for a webinar or to sign up for our newsletter – we collect the information you give us, such as your name, organisation, role, email address and telephone number. We use it to respond to your enquiry, to deliver the service you requested, and, if you have asked us to, to send you occasional updates about CPD standards and events. The lawful bases under UK GDPR that apply are performance of a contract, legitimate interests and, where appropriate, your consent. We do not sell your information and we do not share it with third parties for their marketing purposes. We use trusted service providers to host the site, run webinars, manage email distribution and process payments, and those providers may handle your data strictly for the purpose of delivering their service to us. Each provider is bound by a contract that requires them to protect your information and to act only on our instructions.

We keep enquiry emails for up to twelve months after the last correspondence, webinar attendance records for three years, and newsletter subscription details until you tell us to stop. Financial records are retained for the period the law requires. When data is no longer needed, we delete it securely. We store everything on servers located in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area. If, in rare cases, we need to transfer data outside that region, we rely on an adequacy decision or Standard Contractual Clauses to ensure the information enjoys the same level of protection.

You have rights over your personal information. You can ask us for a copy of what we hold, have inaccuracies corrected, object to or restrict processing, and request deletion when the data is no longer required. To exercise any of those rights, please email enquiries@cpdstandardsboard.com. We aim to respond within one calendar month. If you are unhappy with the way we handle your information, you are entitled to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, though we hope you will give us the chance to resolve the matter first.
